simple appetizers for the thanksgiving rush

for when you don’t want to spiral into a cooking frenzy

Is it turkey day already? How can this be? The year has only just began, no? Well, I guess this simply can’t be the case. And if you’re anything like me today, I’m feeling a bit all over the place, knowing I have about a million things to do in preparation for Thanksgiving. And I, for some reason, didn’t even think of an appetizer to have for Thanksgiving Day.

So, I took a dive into Thanksgivings of years past and found some of my favorite staples that I’ve made. These are the ones that always get eaten first (mostly by my Uncle Freddy, he’ll tell you!), always get compliments, and always make the table feel a little nicer.

So, there is no need to panic with this Thanksgiving rush already here. If you don’t have a plan for Thanksgiving appetizers and want to make something quick, something cozy, something sweet or savory, you’re in the right place. Without wasting any more of your precious minutes, here are four Thanksgiving appetizers to make this year.

stuffed shrooms

When I was in university, one of my roommates made these stuffed mushrooms, and ever since then, I can’t really take a Thanksgiving without them. They are so creamy, warm, cheesy, and just so good. You could honestly eat twenty (but I would not recommend it, for your own sake).

puff pastry cinnamon apple fritters

If you’re looking for something on the sweeter side that takes almost no time, this is the appetizer for you. You just need a few ingredients to make a warm, light apple bite without any real effort.

charcuterie board

I know this is nothing new, but in my book, the charcuterie board era is still very much alive (and I don’t think it’s going anywhere). But honestly, this is something almost anyone can do. You don’t need fancy products or perfect cheese-cutting skills. These days, as long as the thought is there and there are snacks on the table, who is going to complain?

So make the charcuterie board with whatever you have and make it as elegant or rustic as you want.

prosciutto-wrapped apple bites

As a vegetarian, I have nothing personal to add, but my family will tell you these disappear in five minutes. They take no time to assemble and only use a few ingredients. If you’re tight on time, this is the quickest and easiest option of them all.

I hope these quick and simple Thanksgiving appetizers give you a little inspiration and help take even a bit of stress off your day. Believe me, I get it, coming from a 24-year-old who has made Thanksgiving meals more times than expected. Good luck, and I hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving!

xoxo,
